Frequently Asked Questions

What is the process after I call or email you?

Lee will arrange for Aaron to meet with you in your home or on the job site, to discuss your project and make sure he understands your desired outcome. Within 7 days of this meeting, you’ll receive a written quotation by post or email.

Then we’ll call you to discuss the quotation, answer any queries you may have and talk through any other options. We’ll work with you until you are completely satisfied.

On acceptance of our quotation, a starting date will be scheduled. You may be asked to pay 50% of your quotation after 50% of the work has been completed. The remainder will be invoiced and due on completion of your project.

Is it going to make a mess?

Preparation of the surfaces to be painted (plastering & sanding) does create dust. We will do our utmost to minimise this. All floors and furniture will have protective coverings placed over them before any works commence.

We highly recommend that you pack small and breakable possessions away - things that might get knocked over when covered with our protective sheets. Make work areas as clutter free as you can.

Other areas of your home may be blocked off so that they remain as dust free as possible. At the end of the project we will carefully clean the areas where we have worked.

What brand of paint do you use?

We work mostly with Wattyl and Resene, however we can of course match any colour you desire. If you prefer the product of another manufacturer we will gladly use it. We always utilise the best quality products available.

What does Aaron Wright Decorators do with left over paint?

We recommend you keep some for touch ups that might be required later on. We will leave all remaining coloured paint with you unless you prefer us to take it away.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Aaron Wright Decorators are 100% committed to our environment and dispose of left over paint using the services provided by Resene’s PaintWise Collection Centre’s. You can also use this free service by dropping your paint off to designated Resene ColourShops.

In addition, we offer free paint to many sports groups and not-for-profit organisations, to support their services in the community.

Is there a way of doing things that is more environmentally friendly?

Yes, there is. The use of water based enamel paints minimises the gases and chemicals released into the atmosphere.

Many people assume the use of water based paint will not be as durable and cleanable as oil based. This was the case 20 years ago, but not any more. Most manufacturers actually recommend water based products over oil based. Water based products are better able to shrink and expand, according to the changes in temperature. They are much less likely to crack and are just as strong.

How long will my project take?

We will estimate the time required and work with you to complete your project so as not to disrupt your day to day living.

If you require updates and progress reports on your project, Aaron and the team will be happy to provide these to you.

Are you insured?

Yes. Aaron Wright Decorators carries Public Liability Insurance of up to $2 million. We are also able to increase this amount if the project is larger and warrants it.

How do people choose colours?

Choosing colours can be an enormous task due to the fact there are a few thousand to select from. Fashions come and go. We recommend you start by asking yourself what colours you like. (Look in your wardrobe - which colours are more dominant?) Another good idea is to look at your furniture and window coverings.

Light shades will usually make a space look bigger, while darker ones can add warmth to a room. A sense of harmony can be obtained in many different ways.

Aaron is always happy to help. If you need more elaborate advice, we will gladly recommend one of the colour consultants we work with regularly.
